Improving aneurysm care for all women.
✨ Women Caring for Women ✨
As a female vascular surgeon, I often meet women with abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). And here’s the truth: we women are REALLY good at putting off our own care… am I right? 🙋♀️
Too often, I see women when the aneurysm is already advanced and more complex. That makes surgery tougher, especially since most devices and training were originally designed around men’s anatomy. Women tend to have smaller vessels and different anatomy that isn’t always well addressed.
That’s why it was such a privilege to host Dr. Megan Parrott from University of Michigan Health Sparrow. She came to learn about the Alto endograft (ELGX)—a new, lower-profile device that makes it safer to treat women and men with challenging anatomy. The polymer-based seal helps customize the fit, even when the vessels are smaller or angled.
💪 Megan showed what true commitment looks like: learning a new technique after training, because she knows her patients will benefit. Wishing her all the best as she starts her journey as a brand-new attending!
👉 Ladies, let’s talk: why do we delay care for ourselves? And to my colleagues—what new techniques are you excited about that better serve all of our patients?
