Click to read about our newly healed patient.
This patient presented to the ED at Buffalo General Hospital on 11/30/24 with a serious wound infection — exposed bone and a strong concern for osteomyelitis, a bone infection that can be incredibly difficult to treat. He was already booked for an amputation. But on the day of surgery, Dr. Noor saw him, assessed the wound, and made a different call — to try wound care first. That decision changed everything for him. From that moment, his healing journey began. The original wound was painful, raw, and complex — measuring 6 cm x 5 cm after initial debridement on December 5th. It was cleaned, carefully dressed with Santyl, and monitored with precision. What followed was a 7-month long commitment to extensive wound care including excisional debridement to remove damaged tissue, negative pressure wound therapy to encourage healing, and multiple skin substitute applications to rebuild what was lost. Week by week, layer by layer — the body responded. And today, we’re thrilled to share: The leg was saved, the wound is now completely healed. No skin breakdown, no infection. Just new, healthy skin.
This transformation is a reminder of the power of proper wound care — and that healing is possible, even from the most difficult wounds. Whether it’s a small scrape or a chronic wound, taking the right steps — cleansing, dressing, and monitoring — can truly change the outcome.
